Resin Histology Services

Welcome to our Resin Histology Unit, where cutting-edge technology meets expert knowledge to offer unparalleled preclinical histological analysis. Whether it’s soft tissues, hard tissues, or implanted medical devices, our specialized histology is renowned for its ability to produce thin sections, perfect for in-depth examination of tissue.

At our facility, we combine advanced techniques with a deep understanding of tissue dynamics to provide you with ultra-thin sections for soft tissue. Similarly, these services are indispensable for analyzing both soft tissues and implanted medical devices, utilizing advanced resin processing and sectioning techniques. Additionally, we employ precision cutting, grinding, and sectioning methods tailored for bones and intricate medical devices.

In today’s medical landscape, devices are increasingly complex, composed of multiple components with diverse materials. Consequently, our team has developed specialized procedures and methods to ensure optimal sectioning, preserving tissue integrity even through devices, enabling exploration of tissue-device interactions.

This specialized branch of histology plays a pivotal role in providing thin sections essential for microscopy and high-resolution imaging, facilitating insightful analysis, and advancing medical research.

Trust us to deliver cutting-edge technology and expert knowledge for your resin histological needs.

Cutting-Edge Techniques in Resin Histology

Resin Sectioning for soft tissues and devices
  • Processing & Embedding: Utilizing high-quality resin embedding techniques to preserve tissue architecture and cellular morphology for optimal downstream analysis.
  • Sectioning: Specialized knives are used to obtain ultra-thin sections.
  • Staining: We have developed methods to deplastinate and stain similar to a paraffin section. We can perform H&E staining and IHC labeling on resin-embedded sections.
  • Imaging: We encompass facilities to conduct whole-slide imaging to examine soft or implanted medical devices to assess device-tissue interactions through brightfield imaging.
Cutting, Grinding & Polishing
  • Processing & Embedding: Employing advanced resin embedding techniques of superior quality to maintain tissue architecture and cellular morphology, ensuring optimal analysis in subsequent stages. Our expertise allows us to determine the precise resin type suitable for the specific device and block hardness.
  • Cutting & Grinding: Our skilled technicians employ advanced sectioning techniques, including the use of diamond blade saws, to produce precise, thin slices. These are meticulously ground and polished to generate thin sections (10-20 microns), facilitating high-resolution histological analysis to visualize device-tissue interface, changes in tissue architecture, inflammatory response and other significant changes.
  • Staining: We have developed methods for staining sections for both H&E staining and IHC labeling.
  • Imaging: Offering comprehensive facilities for whole-slide imaging, enabling the examination of hard tissues or medical devices, as well as the assessment of device-tissue interactions using brightfield imaging.
